Good Morning!
Yesterday started a new semester! It was pretty busy for only having 3 classes. I had to go get books, then go back and get books cause I didn't get them when I got my first set of books, so on and so forth. It doesn't make any sense.... I have 4 classes... and about 7 books! cha-ching cha-ching cha-ching! (Thanks Mom and Dad!!) I am so grateful I am able to get an education. I really appreciate it when I am swiping the credit card for those books! Looking back on the last 3 1/2 years at OSU absolutely amaze me. I have grown so much from all of my experiences I have encountered.
I am trying to see the beauty in everything and remind myself how blessed I am. This morning the little boy I take care of made his breakfast all by hisself! That is a HUGE step for him!! All I had to do was pour his milk! It amazes me how far he has come in the past 6 months. I am so grateful to be apart of his growing process. Its little things like making my meals all by myself and being able to do my own laundry. It truly changes my perspective on things!
This week has been good in my training. I only had about 20 minutes to run on Monday so I decided to go for a quick run instead no run at all. My knee and lungs didnt give me much trouble at all! I am very thankful for my inhaler and knee brace! I am not going to let a silly knee problem or lungs aching get in the way! (although I will rest if they start to hurt again!)
Today I only had work from 7-9 this morning and then class at 10:30. I may go on a short run in the Colvin cause its a little chilly outside. Then its time to hit the books! I have a few reading assignments due wednesday. Then its back to work around 4 until his mom comes home. I did not get much sleep last night. I went to bed around 11:30 then woke up at 3:00 and could not fall back asleep until about 5! I was wide awake! I finally fell asleep around 5 or 5:30 then had to wake up at 6:30 for work. I may have to sneak a nap into todays schedule for a bit :)
Its time to head to class! I will post in my other blog later :)
ta ta for now! XOXO

SMOOTHIES!!! Ok so this "Title" of the blog was supposed to be funny but the more I read it its pretty lame... but it still made me laugh :)
So today I had the (if I do say so myself...) BRILLIANT idea for a quick yummy smoothie. I JUST had to share it :)
I am a huge fan of anything strawberry and banana so naturally I made a strawberry banana smoothie :)
This can work for any smoothie flavor (blueberry, mixed berry, etc) so please let me know if you have any other yummy smoothie recipes!
Enjoy! XOXO

So today I had the (if I do say so myself...) BRILLIANT idea for a quick yummy smoothie. I JUST had to share it :)
I am a huge fan of anything strawberry and banana so naturally I made a strawberry banana smoothie :)
Recipe:
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup filled with frozen strawberry and bananas
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon of honey
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
blend in the blender and pour into your favorite cup!
If you want... Add a scoop of your protein powder.
It is quite delicious!!
These are the ingredients I used...
and of course.. Honey!
NOW is when the brilliance kicks in... (OK OK I cannot take ALLl the credit.. I did see this on pineterest... but that will be our little secret) I don't know about you but I do not have a lot of time. So to take the time to measure out everything then blend it then clean up... it can take up to a good 10-15 minutes. I don't have that kind of time during the day and in between classes. So I took the time (30 min!) to "pre package" everything! It saves so much time during the week when I want to make a healthy smoothie.
Here we go!
Take a muffin sheet and make sure it is clean.
Take your 1/4 measuring cup and fill the muffin pan with the yogurt and pop it in the freezer.
I then took 1/2 a cup of strawberries and bananas and put it in a freezer ziplock baggie. I wanted for the yogurt to freeze. After about 2 hours I got the yogurt out and put them in the bags with the frozen fruit. Then BAM all you have to do is take out your ziplock bag filled with yogurt and frozen fruit and add 1/2 cup of milk and a teaspoon of honey into the blender and blend away! Add some protein powder if you would like. It only takes about 2 minutes!
It is yummy and fast! Perfect for busy students on the go!
This can work for any smoothie flavor (blueberry, mixed berry, etc) so please let me know if you have any other yummy smoothie recipes!
Enjoy! XOXO

Hello All!
Hello everyone! Welcome to A Healthier Beautiful Life Blog!
I have another blog that I post personal things in called Beautiful Life (beautifullifekg.blogspot.com) but I wanted to do a separate blog about the lifestyle change I am doing. I am by no means "Fat" or "large".... in fact I am extremely grateful that I have a fast metabolism.. But truth is everyone can get HEALTHIER. I admit I eat fast food from time to time, drink too many Dr. Peppers, and have a love of chocolate that anyone who knows me can confirm it is quite an addiction!!! Well... Long story short I had to crazy idea to run a half marathon... Gentle and Ladymen... that is 13.1 miles. Why I decided to do it I have NO idea! But honestly I am pretty excited!! I will use this blog to write about journey to my 13.1 miles. To some people this may be stupid or a waste of time. But my hope in this blog is that I can inspire one person to make a lifestyle change of eating healthy and exercising more. If I have inspired one person to do so.... then my job is done :)
I will post ideas about meals that I am cooking, some fun tips that I have found, some workouts that I have done and enjoyed, as well as my personal progress on running 13.1 miles.
As a personal goal I have said no fast food and no Dr Peppers until my half marathon (April 29). Lets hope I can stick to it! I figured since I am training for a half marathon I might as well make a huge lifestyle change and cut out junk food and really watch what I put into my body in hopes that it makes me healthier and fit for a better 2012.
I hope my personal journey inspires you to make a healthier change in 2012. Good Luck everybody!! I hope to hear about your progress as well!
XOXO
